Memories of Dhanbad ।। Diary, and nothing else..
Dhanbad-1
I am too much attached to the city,DHANBAD. I forgot when I went there for the first time.My father got a job in 1980 in BCCL.After spending few months at the Dhanbad Railway station he had a quarter at Block -D,Bhuli.I was born in the same year.So my parents took me there when I was too small to be remembered.
Dhanbad-2
We lived in Bhuli, Block -D ,Sector 10,Quarter no. 115.It was the first floor. It was just at the south-east corner of a big uneven ground, full of sands & stones. We played there in the afternoon. We had another option to play, for we lived at the border of the company area, enclosed by walls. We would often go there through an illegal way and find a big shallow pond, though there was a legal path too. When we reached that vast uneven land, occupied by no person, rather it was a land of the Government, Bihar Government indeed, as I am telling the story of 1984-85,we found our unbounded joy in the never-ending land, for we would become bored in our quarter. We passed our life in such a place of Bengal where beauty & joy were going through the same path having their hands together in an eternal bond. So we didn't want to be caged. Our wings would get energy amidst that land to fly over the nearby hills ,where natives have been living for thousand years.
Dhanbad-3
The vast table-land in front of me, enclosed by the sal & the palas, beautiful in Spring with the flowers of the palas, the waterlilies in the big shallow pond ---everything of the place made the world a heaven indeed. From here a bypass could be felt[later I visited there quite a few times] by the hills with the sound of the vehicles, though they were never seen as the bypass was made by cutting through the highland. I was hardly attracted to that, for me my attractions were only the hills & their people, whom we often visited at the bazaars as vegetable sellers or burnt coal-pickers at the dumps.
Dhanbad-4
I along with mejda [my second brother] went to that pond for picking up waterlilies from its turbid water where buffaloes used to submerge their bodies up to the throats. Hundreds of eyes could be visible. It looked like black flowers which were timid enough to be in full bloom! Few people were trying how to swim, but in vain, for the shallow water did not allow them to do so .So after making waves, they had to go. A few boys were in the water to catch fish. When they were little-bit successful, their joy was going to the heaven ,as if, they had conquered a new country!
